Visitors are welcome at Regional Medical Center; however, for our patient's well-being, we ask that our visitors observe our general and area specific regulations.
We believe the patient comes first, and it is our duty to protect the patient's health, safety, security, well-being and comfort, while providing for family visitation.
General Regulations
Visitors must dress appropriately, and must wear shirts and shoes.
Patient's privacy is very important. Please knock before entering a patient's room.
Visitors should observe signs posted near room doors; they give important instructions.
Visitors should first check with the nurse before bringing food to patients. Some foods may be harmful to patients.
Visitors should limit the number of visitors at one time, and the duration of their visits so as to allow all patients as much rest as possible.
Children under the age of 14 years may visit patients if accompanied by an adult at all times (exception-critical care).
Smoking is not permitted in the hospital. The smoking area is located outside.
The hospital reserves the right to examine all baggage and packages that enter or leave the building.
Visitors, when requested by staff, should leave a patient's room whenever treatment or procedures are being performed.
Overnight visitation is limited in med/surg and pediatric areas; one parent may stay with a pediatric patient. Visitors must remain in the patient's room. Persons under 16 are not permitted to stay overnight.

Special permission must be obtained before children under 14 years of age may visit a patient on Critical Care.
Tobacco-Use
Smoking and the use of tobacco is currently allowed in designated areas outside of the hospital. Effective January 1, 2013, all Trover locations will become entirely smoke and tobacco-free.
