I am Robert McGehee and I am 88 years old. I have been under the care of a doctor for three years. Several recommend hospice to me saying they were "mighty good." They were right. Hospice is everything they told me it is. Everyone in the organization has been very good to me. The first day I called Hospice in the Madisonville office, I spoke to Jennie Stanley, and she came out to my house. She told me what hospice was about. Before she left we got to laughing and teasing with each other. Several have come by and they all have great personalities, they are friendly, and go along with whatever it is that I think I need. They keep my pain down and have made these few months easier. My local doctor still supervises, but they come and check on me, help with my medicines, and do a good job taking care of me. Hospice is a wonderful organization.

Our life with Green River Hospice started in April 2007, when my Dad decided to visit my uncle at Regional Medical Center. Uncle was in his last stage of cancer. Mary, from Green River Hospice, happened to walk in while Dad was visiting and starting talking about hospice with my Uncle and Aunt. After they had finished talking, my aunt asked Mary if we could do anything to help my Dad because he was dealing with a difficult situation with my Mom, who was in a nursing home at the time. Mary told Dad that she thought we could help and later Dad and I went to the hospice office in Madisonville to talk with Mary in more detail. That's when Dad and Mom's new life began. From that day until now, all I have is praise!

Every time I think of Hospice it feels like a warm cozy blanket being draped over my shoulders. I feel like they are angels sent from heaven. I count my blessings everyday, because without them I don't know what we would have done. They are all wonderful and have been a blessing to Mom and my entire family. I don't know what we would do without them, especially Teresa Rose and Kay Bourland. Of course, they are the ones who take care of Mom the most and we have gotten attached to them. I know all of them and one is just as wonderful as the other. They all have different, but great personalities. If we laugh, they laugh and if we cry, they cry. If we are sad, they are sad. Most of the Green River Hospice team have, in some way, taken care of Mom. Those who haven't, I have met, and love them all dearly. When it comes to Mom's care and concerns they work as a team. If one don't know an answer, they keep working until they can find it. I call that "great team effort."

Green River Hospice, also, has a great office staff. You can go in there anytime. The first person you will probably see is Lucy. She's simply wonderful. They are very friendly and helpful. I was so impressed, I became a volunteer! Speaking of volunteering, if you ever go to the office, look up Amy Romans, you won't be disappointed!

Green River Hospice is very fortunate to have such wonderful, kind, and caring staff. You can't help but fall Totally in love with all of them.

Hospice cared for James "Pete" Clemms. Pete was not just another face. He was like a part of your family. Beth Casey was a God sent and so was Becky. Each and everyone who came touched our lives. You don't know how much strength you gave us and how much peace you gave Pete at the end. You stood and cried beside us and took care of not only Pete, but the family as well. We love you for that. May God always look after each one of you, stand beside you, walk with you and bless you. I have told everyone I talk to about hospice and about how you make the patient and families' life worth living. God takes care of the rest. Thank you to everyone from the ones who answer the phone to the ones that came to our home. You're the best and that's why you are hospice.
