Family Practice Residency Program
Trover Health System established the first Family Practice Residency Program in Kentucky in 1971. There are currently 18 residents seeing patients in the Madisonville Trover Clinic as Madisonville Family Physicians. Our goal was, and is, to increase the number of qualified primary care physicians practicing in rural, underserved areas.
Our program offers the unique opportunity to learn rural medicine without sacrificing the latest in advanced treatment and equipment.
Some of the myriad benefits of our program include:
- 410-bed hospital
- 100+ physician clinic
- No other residencies competing for patients or procedures
- One-on-one teaching by physicians who represent virtually all medical specialties
- Call is spent mostly at home
- Diverse patient contact in a service area of more than 250,000 people
- Affordable housing, reasonable cost of living and access to metropolitan areas
We have a proud tradition of quality residency training, with graduates practicing all over the country, in both rural and metropolitan areas. Our residency program is an important part of Trover Health System's mission to provide excellent care, every time, bringing advanced medical care to needed areas.
