Trover's Regional Medical Center is home to the Transitional Care Unit, a 20 bed unit that provides a short stay nursing home. Most of our patients are on the unit because they need a little bit more time to get stronger before they return home. Patients must have been in the hospital at least three nights to be eligible to be admitted to the unit. Our patients stay on average of eight days. The maximum length of stay is 20 days.

Patients on this unit require a skilled nursing need seven days per week or a skill therapy need at least five days per week. Skilled therapy includes occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy. Most patients are on the unit for rehabilitation.

Physicians are asked to visit patients on this unit at least once per week. Dr. Robert Wood is the medical director of Transitional Care.
